Insanity Part 1

The Insanity has begun! Wednesday morning I did the fit test. It was pretty challenging. The test is to do certain exercise moves for a minute and count how many you can do. You reevaluate 4 more times throughout the program in order to track your progress.

Thursday's workout was Plyometric Cardio Circuit. It was pretty crazy. There is a lot of jumping and more jumping and even more jumping. I was exhausted when I finished, but I did finish.

Friday was Cardio Power & Resistance. Guess what? There was more jumping. There is actually a lot more to it than that, but the jumping wears me out the most. Insanity is a lot different than running. My whole body aches and I definitely sweat a lot more. It's exhausting.

Unfortunately this weekend has been "insanely" busy and I haven't done the exercises. I'll be back at it in the morning though. Saturday we went to the Kentucky Speedway for the Nascar race. It rained the entire time and was postponed until Sunday. I was unable to go back Sunday, but my Dad, husband and little brother went and had a great time. I was able to get a few pictures while we were there Saturday.

I'm glad they were able to go back today and watch the race and stay dry. Hopefully, we will be able to go back next year and I'll get to see the race!

Motivation...or the Lack of Motivation

I have had no motivation to do anything these past few weeks. I keep saying that I am going to start Insanity and I keep putting it off. I say I am going to count my calories and then I don't. I look in the mirror and think, "If you just do what you know you need to, you would be making progress." So why don't I do it?

I need to break the cycle and just suck it up and do it. No more excuses, no more being lazy. I go through this phase often it seems like. Tomorrow morning I am going to get up and start Insanity. Hold me accountable. I need to get back on this journey and stop taking so many detours. I feel like I'm on a road trip and I keep stopping at all the goofy tourist traps. If I keep stopping, I'll never get to where I want to be.

Tomorrow I need to put the blinders on focus on the goal. Until then...

Two weeks ago Lucas and I traveled to Detroit to attend the Orion Music and More Festival. 6 years ago today we got married and at our reception, our first dance was to Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters." We have been waiting for them to come somewhere close so that we could see them and Detroit is as close as they came. So we decided to go.

It was a lot of fun. They had a car show, haunted house, an art exhibit and Metallica museum. And of course, lots of music. Saturday night the Red Hot Chili Peppers played. That was a pretty good show. Sunday we got their kind of early and were able to stand in the second row in the front. They let us stay there all day until it was time for Metallica to come on. Then we learned you had to have special tickets to get to stay that close and we had to move. Honestly, it didn't really matter. We still got to see  Metallica. And they played our song. I cried through the whole thing. It was a beautiful moment.
This is how close we were to the stage!

The Deftones singer got really close.
We had a great time and are hoping to go back next year. It was a nice little get away and we finally were able to see Metallica and hear them play our song live.

Color Run 2013

Saturday was a big day for me... my first 5k! I was incredible nervous about it. I hadn't run in over a week and I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to finish, but I did and I had a lot of fun. Lucas, Dad and Mom all came to support me which was very encouraging. It was such a big moment for me and I was glad to be able to share that with them.

The race was definitely not a competitive one, but I wanted to run the entire way and thankfully I was able to do that for the most part. Running through the color was kind of difficult because people were stopping to take pictures and things, but I was still able to beat my goal of 40:00 minutes and finished around 38:00 minutes. (It wasn't timed so Lucas looked at the time when I started and when I crossed the finish line.)

Right after the race.
After picture taken when we got home.
The Color Run was a great first experience for me and I hope to run another race in the future. Unfortunately right now, my laziness has caught up with me and my weight is increasing. This weekend didn't help which I will post about soon. It's too much to include here, but let's just say it was amazing! Next week I am going to start Insanity. I may really be insane for this, but I am going to give it a go.
