May Foodie Pen Pal Reveal

Today is Foodie Pen Pal reveal day! If you want to know more about it go check out The Lean Green Bean.

I am very excited about everything that Johanne sent. It was fun getting to know her a little bit. She's from Quebec, but now lives in Virginia. She has also been trying to get healthier and enjoys running so it was neat to get paired with someone you have some things in common with. Check out her blog. 

On to the food! First off, she sent this nice card. The quote on the front said, "Every single day, do something that makes your heart sing." - Marcia Wieder This is definitely something I need to remember to do. Take some time out of every day and do something you love!

The card listed everything she sent:

We used some of the BBQ sauce when we grilled. It is delicious. I also love the whippets. They are like mini moon pies, but they are dark chocolate. Yum!

I haven't tried the others yet, I had to make sure to take a picture first. I have been wanting to try Justin's Nut Butters for awhile now. I have seen them on a lot of other blogs and was happy to receive them. I can't wait to try them. And they make a peanut butter cup as well! Who knew? You can never go wrong with chocolates.

Hot Hot Hot!

Can you believe I actually went running today? It was an internal struggle, but I forced myself to go. My race is 1 week from Saturday. I have to be able to run 3.1 miles for the race.

It was really hot today. I forgot to take a picture of the actual temperature when I went running, but it was in the 80's. 

I was so happy when I finished. I went running Tuesday and only ran 1.81 miles. 

Today's run was not about time at all. I didn't try to run fast, I just wanted to finish. I wanted to run the whole 3.1 miles. It was a big accomplishment. 

I was down .6 when I weighed in this week. I'm going to reach my goal no matter how many set backs I have. 

There are some big things coming up next week that I am very excited about. Duh, duh, duh. (Dramatic sound effect.) What could it be?

May Cara Box Reveal

Cara Box is a great way to meet other bloggers and get to know them a little bit. It is hosted by Kaitlyn This is the first time I have participated and I was really looking forward to it. I sent a package to Teresa and received an amazing package from Jess

The theme for May was "regional." You had to send your match things from your area. It was a challenge, but it was a lot of fun. 

Here's what I received: 

A Nicholas Sparks book because he is from North Carolina.
Pretzels distributed out of NC.
A meal planner to help with the weight loss.
A NC coffee mug.
Carolina BBQ Sauce.
The jar of pom poms is to motivate me to exercise. Her note says to take them all out and put one back in every time you exercise. Reward yourself when they are all back in. This was a very thoughtful gift.

Busy Week

Life has been so busy lately! Last Saturday I actually ran. I almost forgot what that was. I have been so horribly lazy. I actually ran farther than 3.1 this time!

Then we went to May Day at the Klipsch Center! It was a lot of fun. Buckcherry, Awolnation, Bush and Soundgarden played. Awol and Bush were great. The other 2 were unfortunately not very good live. Andrew Luck from the Colts was there introducing all the bands which was pretty cool.

All in all it was a pretty good day. Sunday was Mother's Day and we spent the day with our Moms. It's always good to take the time to spend with your family. Never take them for granted.

I haven't lost anymore weight. I am sadly still gaining. I am going to change this trend and get it together. There's no excuse for this and I've got to correct it before it gets out of hand.

Let me start out by saying that I know exactly why I keep gaining weight. I see it happening and I don't do anything about it. I frustrate myself so badly sometimes. This week I am back up to 188. I have got to be more active and eat better. I am back to the weight that I was in March. Ugh... I can't make excuses, I can't say "Poor, pitiful me." I need to suck it up and change.

I ran on the dreadmill tonight. I just wanted to run a mile and I ran more out of frustration than anything. I felt good when I got done though. 

Tomorrow's a new day. A new day to make the right choices. A new day to be better. A new day to do what I need to do. A new day to change.

Catching Up

I started the work week out right. I actually got up early to run Monday. Here's the proof. The picture looks kind of creepy. 

My time wasn't too bad considering I haven't run in forever. I didn't get up early enough to run 3 miles. I honestly don't know if I could have though.

I weighed in Tuesday. 186.4. Back down .6 this week. I'm glad that I didn't gain anything, but I may after this. I got some ice cream after lunch today. Cake batter with cookie dough. It was delicious.  

I didn't get up and run today so I had to go after work. I found a new place to run and it was a nice change. It was hot! I was drenched when I got back to the car. I did set a new average pace. Whoop whoop!

Overall, it has been a good week. I've gotten a little motivation again and feel like I'm heading in the right direction. Looking forward to the weekend. It's our first VBS work day. I'm ready to get started on it.
