Cardio AND Abs

Today's workout was extra insane. The normal Pure Cardio workout was on the schedule plus Cardio Abs. Pure Cardio has been the toughest workout of Insanity so far. It is very intense so I was kind of nervous to have to do the ab workout as well. It was not easy (not that I expected it to be.) I have been able to see improvements in my endurance, but I also know I have to keep pushing myself harder to get ready for the second 30 days of Insanity which are going to be even more challenging.

During today's workout I took 3,405 steps and burned  914 calories according to my Fitbit.

We didn't have any big plans this weekend, just looking forward to spending some time relaxing at home. Tomorrow is a rest day for Insanity and I have been itching to go for a run so we'll say what happens. It's supposed to be pretty warm here, but maybe it will be a good challenge.

I don't know if any of you have ever watched the show 24, but we started it on Netflix last night and now I am hooked. As I am typing we are watching episode 8 of the first season.

Hope you are enjoying your Labor Day weekend so far!

BTW-I just realized this is my 100th blog post!!! Tomorrow I will have to do something special to commemorate! Thanks for reading!

Foodie Pen Pal Reveal

It's reveal day for Foodie Pen Pals. This is a great program for you to exchange some of your favorite food finds with a partner. This month my package was sent from Nicole at A Wild Hope. Be sure to check out her blog!

Nicole sent some wonderful things to me that were all new.

So far I have tried the dark chocolate acai with blueberry snacks and the caramel with sea salt dark chocolate. (Notice a theme there?) Both are delicious. I am still looking forward to trying the different almonds, tea and the nut butter. I have had great experiences with my pen pals so far and have received some awesome things that I've never tried.

If you've never participated in Foodie Pen Pals, definitely check it out. You have until September 4th to sign up at The Lean Green Bean and you don't have to have a blog to participate. I highly recommend it!

Weigh In

Yesterday was Cara Box reveal day so I wasn't able to post about my weigh in. I did post my weight and.... I lose 2.8 pounds this week! It's amazing what happens when you exercise, count your calories and stay within your range. It's exciting to see the scale moving down again. A small part of me is also frustrated because I look at what I'm doing now and think that I could have reached my goal weight if I would have stuck with it last year. I know I can't do anything about it now, but I am going to use it as motivation for this time. I want this time to be the final time I need to lose weight.

I haven't posted about my workouts this week, but I have done them every day. I post a picture after my workout in the morning on all the social media sites as an accountability thing because I don't always get to talk about it here.

This was after today's Cardio Recovery. On a regular workout day me Fitbit says I took between 2500 and 3500 steps, today's recovery I only took 170. Recovery is deep stretching, planks and things like that. It's still tough, but nothing like a workout day.

I went to Trader Joe's on Tuesday. That place is wonderful. Everything I have tried from there I have liked so far.

Tonight we had organic pasta noodles, organic pasta sauce and organic chicken all from Trader Joe's. (We also had garlic bread that was not organic.) This pasta meal was delicious! The picture doesn't make it look too tasty, but it was.

I'm feeling good about the changes that are happening and I plan on seeing the scale go down again next week!

Cara Box Reveal

This month I participated in the Cara Box program again. It is a wonderful way to get to know other people and hopefully make new friends. This month, I was paired up with 2 fantastic people: I sent a Cara Box to Melissa at Honey Sweet Bee and Jennifer Blake sent mine.

I absolutely loved everything that she picked out for me. This month's theme was seasons of life. We were paired up based on age and what season of life you were in (kids, no kids, etc.).

Jennifer was very thoughtful in everything she picked out. A pedometer and water battle for my fitness as well as some earbuds which I love. She also appealed to the pen addict in me by sending my favorite pens (even though she didn't know it) and a cute notebook. Also included is the card game Phase 10 which I am looking forward to playing and some magnetic notes. Thank you so much, Jennifer for the great package!

If you want to participate next time check it out here.

Fears vs Dreams

This Summer at the Metallica concert, there was a booth set up for the organization To Write Love on Her Arms. You can check it out here. They help people who are struggling with addiction, depression, self-injury and suicide. I bought this bracelet to support the organization and it basically describes my life in 3 words.

I've always said that I've lived my life based on my fears. The biggest of these fears is the fear of failing. My stance has always been to not even try because I don't want to fail. Why have I been so afraid? I dealt with these issues that TWLOHA helps people with as a teenager/young adult and it was hard. Who doesn't have fears at that age? Who isn't confused and looking for the right way out? Looking back on it I see it from a different perspective and just think, "What were you doing?" Then I look at me now and think, "What are you doing?"

I don't know when exactly I began to let my fears guide me, but it has kept me from following my dreams for far too long. I dream of writing a book, I dream of helping other people by sharing my story, I dream of singing, I dream so many things, but the fears always stifle the dreams. I am afraid of trying and failing. I am afraid of letting everyone around me down. I am afraid of not being good enough. I am afraid of falling into old habits. I am afraid that I will hate myself again if I fail. I've always set this impossible standard for myself. It's almost like I want to fail, but I don't. Deep down that's not what I want. I want to follow my dreams. I need to stop being so afraid of EVERYTHING and live my life.

Fears vs Dreams... I don't want to look back on my life and ask myself, "Why?" "Why did you let your fears win?" "Why didn't you follow your dreams?" Life is scary. Especially as a teenager/young adult when you are trying to figure out who you are and when you start thinking for yourself. There are better ways to handle things than the way I handled them. There is hope. You can follow your dreams. You can live the life that you want to live. Stop living in fear! There are people you can talk to, there are people willing to help you. Don't let your fears win!

So now I am left thinking... "Is it too late?" "Have I wasted too much time?" "Where do I go from here?"...

To be cont...

Bargain Shopping

Insanity workout 2 was completed! I decided to take a picture trying to express how I was really feeling and not my typical smiling picture.

Yesterday, I went to Meijer for some things and picked up a couple of clearance workout tank tops. When I got to the checkout, they were even cheaper than they were marked. So I had to go back today and stock up.

I was able to get 8 tops for $19.00. They were all $2.00 except for 1 that was $5.00. It was an excellent deal.

Weigh in Wednesday was not very successful. Of course, I just started exercising Tuesday so I wasn't expecting too much. I did lose .2 pounds and a loss is a loss, but .2 is not very much. I've also given up sodas again so that should help.

FYI: I started an Instagram account so check it out if you get a chance:

Until next time...

Things That Make You Go Hmmmm....

So we were watching Bizarre Foods this weekend and found out something pretty disgusting. Now, I've always known that the processed foods we eat have stuff in them that we should probably not be eating, but I never imagined how awful the things that are in them would be. Warning: Only click on this link if you are okay with never eating processed food again.

It definitely makes you rethink the things that we eat. I need to pay more attention about the things that I put in my body. Some of this cannot be good for you. Now I know when something says it has "Natural Flavors" that's not necessarily a good thing. It's so gross to even think about.

I am going to be doing some more research about food and what's in it and how it affects us. I've got to do better. There has to be a better way to eat than this.

Dreams Do Come True

Last night we saw Shinedown for the 3rd time! I don't think I could ever get tired of seeing them or listening to their music. You can read about the 1st time we saw them here. This time we were in the 5th row behind the pit so we could actually see everything that was going on. It was phenomenal. There is never a doubt that they love what they do when you watch them perform. You can tell it's not about the fame, it's not about the money, it's about the fans and being an inspiration.

So one of my dreams was realized last night/this morning. I met Shinedown!!! They did a meet and greet after the show and it was amazing. You always wonder what it would be like to meet someone who has inspired you so much. There aren't words for it. They were so friendly and humble and I respect them even more now. To meet some of your fans after you just performed for an hour and a half and it's mindnight, to shake our hands, give us hugs and genuinely seem like you want to be there doing that exact thing at that exact moment...what can I say?

I think this picture pretty much sums up how I was feeling. This was about an hour later and I was still glowing. I couldn't sleep last night I was so excited.

I know this may all seem silly and you may not get it, but that's okay. I met the people who have inspired me to write again, who have helped inspire me to change and finally work on becoming the person I truly am and not the person that I have been. They've inspired me to want to be an inspiration to others, to find my calling and that life's too short to not love what you do. Shinedown has done this for me and I can't wait until next time...

Insanity Redo

Insanity Plyometric Cardio workout complete! I thought I was going to die, but I finished. It's even more insane than I remember. It felt good to finish, but it's tough. Last time I got through 4 days of exercise. This time I am going to go through the whole 60!

Pinterest Pin of the week:

Pretty well sums up how I'm feeling this week.

In other news, I will weigh-in tomorrow. I am going to have Weigh-In Wednesdays and hopefully this will help me stay on track again.

The rest of August is going to be pretty busy for us. We have 2 more concerts and we are going to a Q&A with Duck Dynasty at the State Fair. We have definitely had a lot of great experiences this summer and I'm looking forward to enjoying the rest!

Metal Mayhem

This Summer had been a Summer of concerts. These are pictures from the last one we attended. We went to Metal Mayhem at the Klipsch Center. It was very entertaining as you can probably tell from the pictures. Rob Zombie had a different prop for every song!

Tomorrow I am going to restart Insanity. I need to get back into it!
